Am Beginn des 3. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. ließ Ptolemaios II. das Propylon, den Hauptzugang des Heiligtums in Samothrake neu errichten. Auf beiden Seiten der eigentlichen Türwand war eine tempelartige Fassade mit Giebel vorgeblendet, zum Heiligtum hin in korinthischer, zur Stadt hin in ionischer Ordnung. Ein Fragment eines dieser ionischen Kapitelle ist erhalten und zeigt die reiche Dekoration frühhellenistischer Bauteile. Der Saum der dreifach eingedrehten Volute ist sorgfältig gegliedert, die Bohrung im Auge der Volute zeigt an, dass hier ursprünglich wohl eine bronzene Rosette eingesetzt gewesen ist. Die Deckplatte des Kapitells, der Abakus, ist mit einem lesbischen Kyma als Dekor verziert. Vom Polster wachsen Ranken bis fast zum Abakus auf.
