Auch in römischer Zeit wurden in Ägypten weiterhin Mumien hergestellt. Den einbalsamierten Leichnam legte man in mumienförmige Särge, die aus Kartonagehüllen bestanden. Dies ist der Kopf- und Brustteil eines solchen Kartonagesarges, der über die Mumie gestülpt wurde. Haartracht und Kleidung entsprechen der Mode des frühen 2. Jahrhunderts. Die Frau trägt eine rote Tunika mit schwarzen Bordüren. Ihr Schmuck besteht aus einem breiten Halsband sowie Schlangenarmbändern und Ringen. Ihr Haar mit den Korkenzieherlöckchen ist mit einem Blütenkranz geschmückt.
