Breakfast Service and Toilet Set, so-called “Golden Night Things”

The set, made from high-carat gold, contains more than seventy individual pieces. It numbers among the few ensembles of this type preserved worldwide. Though likely created as a gift from Maria Theresa to Francis I, it shows few signs of use. This major work of Viennese goldsmithing had already been transferred to the treasury by 1781.
