Seychellennuss-Kanne

Die von zwei Hofkünstlern für Kaiser Rudolf II. geschaffene Kanne setzt die Hälfte einer Seychellennuss in Szene. Dieser riesige Samen einer Palmenart wurde an Stränden des Indischen Ozeans angeschwemmt gefunden. Man hielt ihn daher für eine Meeresfrucht. Der Bildschmuck der Nuss und ihrer Fassung nimmt darauf Bezug. Idealtypisch zeigt sich hier das Zusammenspiel von Natur und Kunst.
