Bei diesem Marienmantel handelt es sich um das prunkvolle Gewand eines Priesters. Das Rückenschild zeigt die Mutter Gottes (von dem Schild leitet sich auch die Benennung des Mantels ab), während die Pluvialstäbe mit gestickten Bildern von Aposteln und Propheten geschmückt sind. Das Halbrund des Mantels weist neben Engeln ausschließlich Darstellungen weiblicher Heiliger auf.
