Adam

ca. 1530/35, Artist: Conrat Meit

Adam

Conrad Meit was court sculptor to Margaret of Austria. His virtuoso handling of the nude body was unrivalled in contemporary sculpture north of the Alps. These two figures are among the highlights of Renaissance sculpture in the Netherlands and document the rising interest of collectors and connoisseurs outside of Italy in small autonomous sculptures.
