So wie die meisten Herren seiner Zeit war auch Kaiser Franz Joseph ein begeisterter Jäger. Seine spärliche Freizeit verbrachte er daher vorzugsweise in Bad Ischl oder in einem der anderen kaiserlichen Jagdreviere, wo er den hier gezeigten "Ausseer Jagdanzug" trug. Dieses typisch österreichische Gewand bestehend aus Lodenjoppe und Kniehose, hohen Schnürschuhen, Ledergamaschen und einem Hut mit Gamsbart war übrigens die einzige Zivilkleidung, in der man den Kaiser regelmäßig sehen konnte.
