Aschenkiste des T. Gerillanus Marcellus

Only the front of this urn (its lid has not survived) is completely worked; it depicts garlands alternating with the heads of bulls and rams suspended from taenias (headbands or fillets). The inscription flanking the depictions identifies the deceased: Τίτου Γεριλλανοῦ Μαρκέλλου, ζῇ / Ἀπολλώνιος Λέον[το]ς“ (cinerary urn of Titus Gerillanus Marcellus, (erected) during his lifetime. (Donated by) Apollonios, son of Leon”. At some later date a plughole was added bottom right.
