1825 , Production: Hofsattlerei
This coronation Landau was built for the Hungarian coronation of Empress Karoline Auguste, the fourth wife of Kaiser Franz II/I (1825). The Landau, which could be used both open and closed, had become so popular at the beginning of the 19th century that it was now even used (with appropriately rich design) as a coronation carriage in place of the ceremonial "state coach". The carriage, drawn by eight horses, was used again at the Hungarian coronations of Ferdinand I (1830) and Karl I (1916). (MKR)
