Die Dogana in Venedig

Über den Vorplatz der Dogana (Zollamt) an der Mündung des Canal Grande hinweg, geht der Blick auf die Insel La Giudecca mit der Kirche Zitelle. Canaletto stand auf der Höhe seines Ruhms als Venedigs erster Vedutenmaler: topographisch exakte Szenerie, malerische Staffage und eine strahlende, rokokohaft gefärbte Helligkeit verbinden sich zu jenem Bild Venedigs, das die Kunstliebhaber vom 18. Jahrhundert bis heute so sehr schätzen.
