Dieses Rasselinstrument wurde bei Kulthandlungen zu Ehren der Göttin Bastet verwendet. Ihr heiliges Tier, eine Katze, die zwei Junge säugt, ist plastisch auf dem Sistrumbogen dargestellt. Bastet, die sanfte Erscheinungsform der löwengestaltigen Göttin Sachmet, gilt unter anderem als Göttin der Musik und des Tanzes.
