Gian Giacomo Bartolotti da Parma

around 1518, Artist: Tiziano Vecellio, gen. Tizian

Gian Giacomo Bartolotti da Parma

Bartolotti da Parma (1465/70–1530), president of the Doctor’s College in Venice, was also active as a writer; his publications included “Macharonea medicinalis”, a poem on medical problems that was bitingly ironic both in content and style. We can infer from the dignified appearance of the person depicted with its hint of irony that Titian and his doctor were friends.
