There’s no need to forego Bruegel in the coming days – you can even get really close up to his works. The interactive website www.insidebruegel.net provides images of all Bruegel paintings in our collection in extremely high resolution to gain deep insights and delve into every last detail of Bruegel’s world of imagery.


EXPERIENCE ARTIST TALKS AND LECTURES ONLINE

Pass many hours with thrilling artist talks and lectures from our series ‘Old Masters in Conversation’ and ‘Contemporary Talks’ on our YouTube channel, including among others Helen Langdon on Caravaggio’s Cupid, Ben Street on Mark Rothko and Oscar winner Steve McQueen on his art and his films.

Beethoven moves, even when everything appears to have come to a standstill around us. That also applies to our great Beethoven exhibition, which was planned to open on 25 March and which we now have to postpone to an as yet unknown date due to the circumstances. Experience an exciting online exhibition on our painting highlight The Art of Painting by Jan Vermeer on Google Arts & Culture and discover many interesting and hidden details of this Dutch Baroque painter‘s masterpiece.


TV SERIES ‘100 MASTERPIECES’ ONLINE

Our YouTube channel features many episodes from the TV series ‘100 Masterpieces’: rediscover a contemporary re-edition of the ORF TV classic from the 1980s and 1990s. Director General Sabine Haag and writer Michael Köhlmeier present the unique treasures of the Kunsthistorisches Museum.


BARRIER-FREE DIGITAL SERVICES

A new app and an interactive game is making the museum accessible online from home for people with disabilities:

Discover selected works of art and tours of the picture gallery with the app ARCHES – KHM for all: it features detailed object descriptions for the blind and visually impaired, descriptions in easy language and easy-to-read texts, as well as videos in sign language for those with hearing impairments.

Design your own work of art with the interactive game ARCHES – KHM. Choose and combine details from several museum objects and let your creativity run wild.


ENJOYABLY BITE-SIZED MUSEUM HISTORY

Discover the fascinating history of the Kunsthistorisches Museum at hand of numerous and at times unconventional individual impressions from the digital series ‘Moments, Objects, Stories’“, which was put online in 2016 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the museum.
