Der Orator Giovan Pietro Maffeis (?) (1533-1603)
Dieses Porträt stellt wahrscheinlich G. P. Maffeis (1533-1603), den Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Rhetorik in Genua und Sekretär der Republik, dar, der 1565 in Rom in den Jesuitenorden eintrat und Professor für Rhetorik am Collegio Romano wurde. Der Bergamaske Moroni, fast ausschließlich als Bildnismaler tätig, kombiniert in seinen Bildern lombardischen Realitätssinn mit dem reichen Kolorismus Venedigs.
