Sogenannte Saliera

Die einzige erhaltene Goldschmiedearbeit des schon zu Lebzeiten berühmten Florentiner Künstlers ist weit mehr als ein kostbares Tischgerät für Salz und Pfeffer. Mit seinem Bildprogramm ist es ein Sinnbild des Kosmos, auf den die Gottheiten Neptun (Meer) und Tellus (Erde) ebenso verweisen wie die Motive der Tageszeiten und der vier Winde am Sockel. Diesen Kosmos beherrscht der in Wappen und Emblemen präsente Auftraggeber: König Franz I. von Frankreich.
