Lebensbaum

Das große Volutenkapitell, das 1894 im östlichen Teil der Akropolis von Idalion entdeckt wurde, diente als Bekrönung einer Votivstele. Es gehört zu einer Serie von Denkmälern, die vom 7. bis zum 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. in Idalion, Golgoi und Tamassos vor allem in Grabanlagen aufgestellt waren und das ägyptische bzw. orientalische Motiv des "Lebensbaumes" repräsentieren.
