around 1515, Artist: Francesco di Cristofano, gen. Franciabigio
A less inventive yet notable representative of Florentine High Renaissance, Franciabigio was always seeking to borrow from the great masters, adapting their ideas to his graceful, rather calm style. In this Holy Family, the artist translated the complex intersecting figures of Leonardo into a simpler visual language. The influences of Fra Bartolomeo and Andrea del Sarto can also be seen here. The colouring is cheerful and harmonious.
