Der Halsring besteht aus massivem Gold und lässt sich vorne öffnen. Als Verschluss und Blickfang zugleich dient eine runde, mit Granulation und Filigran verzierte Goldkapsel, in deren Zentrum sich ein grüner Glasknopf befindet. Sie besitzt an der Unterseite eine Öffnung, in die das zweite Reifenende eingehakt werden kann. Das kostbare Schmuckstück stammt aus einem Grabfund, der 1855 im damals ungarischen Czéke (heute Cejkov, Ost-Slowakei) durch Zufall entdeckt wurde. Das Inventar des Grabes umfasst Schmuck aus Edelmetall, Ess- und Trinkgeschirr sowie andere Gegenstände germanischer bzw. provinzialrömischer Herkunft.
