Jakobs Traum von der Himmelsleiter

Auf der Wanderschaft ist Jakob, begleitet von seinem Hund, am Wegesrand eingeschlafen und sieht im Traum eine bis zum Himmel reichende Leiter, auf der Engel emporsteigen. Dieses symbolisch reich ausdeutbare Geschehnis des Alten Testaments - z. B. als Vorwegnahme der Auferstehung Christi, oder als Streben nach dem Spirituellen - kam Fettis Vorliebe für Gleichnisse und Visionen entgegen. Auch hier brilliert er durch eine lebendige, genrehafte Erzählform und durch eine frische malerisch- atmosphärische Farbgebung.
