Personal Coupé

1887 , Manufacturer: Hofwagenfabrik Marius (Wien)

Personal Coupé

Typical compact city carriage of the late 19th century that was in daily use by members of the imperial family. Only the green paint with delicate gilt edging and the crowns on the lanterns and carriage door indicate that this coupé was a court vehicle. The interior is decorated with dark green silk and green crown braids. Emperor Franz Joseph (1830 - 1916) used a similar carriage which was just as inconspicuous as it was practical for his way from Schönbrunn to the "Hofburg" (imperial castle) in Vienna.
