Neben den Ordenscollanen, die an hohen Feiertagen und den Ordensfesten getragen werden, etablierte der Orden vom Goldenen Vlies im 18. Jahrhundert die als pretiöses Schmuckstück gestaltete Halsdekoration. Dieses Kleinod wurde am roten Band vor allem zu Uniform und Frack getragen und setzt sich aus den Symbolen des Ordens, dem Feuerstein, dem Feuereisen und dem Vliesanhänger zusammen.
