Auf ein hellenistisches Vorbild geht die Liebesszene auf dem kleinen Mosaikbild zurück. Den Mittelpunkt bildet das auf einer Kline gelagerte Paar: eine junge Frau, die sich in halb liegender Stellung auf die Kissen stützt und zu einem Mann aufblickt, der sich, auf dem Ruhebett sitzend, ihr zuneigt. Links eine junge Dienerin, die aus einer Spitzamphora Wasser in einen Kessel gießt, der von einem bronzenen Satyr getragen wird. Die Statue des Gottes Dionysos im Hintergrund und ein Baum, an dem ein Schutzdach befestigt ist, deuten an, dass die Szene im Freien spielt.
