Das "Hieron" auf der Insel Samothrake war wohl kein Tempel sondern ein Gebäude, in dem die Mysten, die Anhänger des Mysterienkultes, ihre Einweihung erhielten. Neben einigen Architekturteilen des Gebäudes sind auch Figuren erhalten, die den Nordgiebel des Hieron geschmückt haben. Die gelagerte weibliche Gestalt stützt sich mit der Rechten auf einem Felsen ab. Der Mantel ist bis auf die Hüfte herabgerutscht, in der linken hielt die Figur ursprünglich ein Trinkgefäß. Nach einer Deutung war im Giebel die Übergabe des Gründers der samothrakischen Mysterien, Aetion, gezeigt, die weibliche Gestalt wäre dann die Personifikation des Hauptberges der Insel.
