In diesem sehr qualitätvollen Bildnis kommen die individuellen Züge des Dargestellten besonders gut zur Geltung. Der von einer Büste stammende Kopf wendet sich energisch nach links, sein Gesichtsausdruck hingegen erscheint ruhig und konzentriert. Die wohlgeordneten Stirnlocken und die kurzen Koteletten unterstreichen die gepflegte Erscheinung des bartlosen Jünglings. Der Typus, die Bildhauerarbeit und die Frisur weisen darauf hin, dass das Porträt wohl noch vor oder um 130 n. Chr. geschaffen wurde. Es zeigt eine unter Hadrian beliebte Variante des höfischen Porträts, welche die nachfolgenden Prinzenbildnisse (etwa diejenigen des Marc Aurel) vorwegnimmt.
