Zeit des Nebukadnezar II., 604-562 v. Chr., Babylon, Prozessionsstraße
Vom Ischtar-Tor in Babylon führte eine lange Prozessionsstraße zum Tempel im Zentrum der Stadt. Die Zugangsstraße war von dicken Mauern flankiert, die in regelmäßigen Abständen durch vorspringende Türme verstärkt waren. Das Ischtar-Tor war mit Friesen aus gebrannten und glasierten Ziegeln dekoriert, die Drachen und Stiere zeigen. Die Türme der Zugangsstraße waren mit Löwendarstellungen geschmückt, dem Symbol der Göttin Ischtar.
