Der Ibis ist neben dem Pavian das heilige Tier des Gottes Thot. Thot war als Verkörperung der Weisheit und der Schreibkunst der Schutzpatron der Schreiber. An den verschiedenen Verehrungsstätten des Thot wurden tausende Ibis-Mumien gefunden. Auch Votivstatuen wurden im Kult verwendet. Der Körper dieser Statuette besteht aus Holz, das mit feinem Stuck überzogen wurde. Der Kopf mit der Atef-Krone, der Hals, die Schwanzfedern und die Beine sind aus Silber gegossen. Die Augen sind mit schwarzem Glas auf Stuck eingelegt.
