Zeit des Xerxes, 486-466 v. Chr., Ägypten (vermutlich)
Ein Alabastron diente in Ägypten zur Aufbewahrung von Duftölen. Das hier vorliegende Alabastron ist eine sehr große Variante der persischen Zeit. Im oberen Wandbereich sind zwei gegenüberliegende Knubben, die Knoten von Leinwandschleifen darstellen, deren herunterhängende Enden nur schwach im Relief zu erkennen sind. Auf einer Seite des Gefäßes ist in vier verschiedenen Sprachen eine Inschrift eingraviert: Der Name des Großkönigs ist in drei waagrechten Zeilen in Keilschrift in altpersisch, elamisch und babylonisch niedergeschrieben. Darunter folgt senkrecht eine Kolumnen in ägyptischen Hieroglyphen mit folgendem Text: "Xerxes, Pharao der Große."
