um 1640/1645, Artist: Salvator Rosa
Astraea, die Göttin der Gerechtigkeit, kehrt wieder auf die Erde zurück und überreicht ihre Attribute (Waage und Schwert) den friedlichen Landleuten. Ein neues Goldenes Zeitalter ist angebrochen: mit diesem, auf den römischen Dichter Vergil zurückgehenden Mythos wollte das florentinische Herrschergeschlecht der Medici sein Regime immer wieder neu begründen. Salvator Rosa hat dieses Bild, in dem auch Friedenssehnsucht am Ende des 30jährigen Krieges mitschwingt, für den Medici-Hof gemalt.
