„The Kunsthistorisches Museum in the Public Arena“

The campaign „The Kunsthistorisches Museum in the Public Arena“ is bringing the Kunsthistorisches Museum to the people of Vienna: between November 6 and 20, reproductions of paintings in the Kunsthistorisches Museum will be displayed in the streets and squares of Vienna, coming to where the people are. For two weeks, twenty-nine popular or centrally-located squares, walls, building sites, underground stations, train stations, shops and banks will be the site of these displays. Docents from the KHM will chat with passers-by, telling them interesting and entertaining things about the painting on display, encouraging them to take a new look at art.

After January’s „Open House“, director-general Sabine Haag is sending another strong signal about opening the museum to the public. “My motto is 'open up to let in a fresh breeze'. This campaign, however, goes one step further – reaching out to the people who live in our city,” said Sabine Haag.
